The Children’s Advocacy Center exists
to minimize the trauma children must
face when they have been victimized by
abuse. Instead of being forced to visit
the police station, social service office
and hospital, children and their families
come to one place, the Children’s
Advocacy Center, where there is love
for children, passion for justice and
vision for restored childhood. The
efforts of Child Protective Services, law
enforcement, medical specialists,
prosecutors and therapist combine to
help children feel safe. The children will
be able to tell their story just once.
At the Center, a specially trained
forensic interviewer will talk to the child
and serve as a “fact-finder” to
determine the details about the abuse
the child has experienced. The interview
will be recorded to minimize the times
the child is victimized by reliving their
abuse. The Center believes that when
offered community support, families
have a greater probability of success.
Services will include needs assessment,
community resource referrals and
assistance with crime victims’
compensation.
